it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The “Book Publishing on Stage” project promotes student collaboration, builds self-esteem, and serves as a simple way to incorporate many areas in our educational standards. As teachers, we strive to support students in establishing their voices as writers by engaging them in an intensive genre study and various writing skills. Students are encouraged to draft and illustrate pages using their own creative skills, and publish it as their own story book. All children are contributing their best efforts toward this project, which motivates them to learn through publishing and role playing. This year, we are announcing with great excitement that we will be returning back on stage to celebrate our students’ efforts and to bring their stories to life! The school play is our shining moment!
Our students will be thrilled to know that they can perform while moving freely on stage and act with more confidence using their hand gestures to express their words without being restricted to stay too close to the microphone.
As for now, we have six general education classrooms (26 students each) and three special needs classrooms that will take part in our big production. Our wireless microphones are limited...we only have 2 of them! Students therefore have to share the microphone by taking turns to talk and deliver their lines. I know the fact that having the extra wireless microphones will make our production a huge success!
We kindly ask donors to participate in helping to purchase a set of wireless microphones that can be compatible with our sound system to accommodate more students on stage. This will be a game changer for us.
