My Project

I am trying to add an Ag Foods Class into my course offerings here at our school. This course will explore the scientific principles behind food production, processing, safety, & sustainability. Students will engage in hands-on activities, laboratory experiments, & project-based learning to understand the critical role of science in the food system. Key topics include food chemistry, microbiology, engineering, nutrition, & sustainable practices. In this class, students will also learn about various cooking / baking skills that will be necessary for them to use in their adult lives post high school. By embedding an Ag Food Science class into the broader school culture, it becomes more than just a subject—it’s a platform for community engagement, personal growth, & shared pride, enhancing the overall school experience. These materials are necessary to offer a version of an Ag Food Science class customized to unique student interests. The fridge is necessary for perishable food items. The collapsible sinks are necessary for washing cutting / serving utensils, cutting boards, pans, & pots since I only have a laboratory sink in my room. The hotplate cooktop / air fryer oven combos are necessary since I do not have stoves / ovens in my classroom. The safety knife sets are necessary since I may have special education students in my classroom, if they are interested in taking Ag Foods. The storage bins are necessary to hold & organize supplies for this class, since I will have to store these supplies with other classes' laboratory supplies. The hot pad holders are necessary to help prevent students from injury from hot surfaces. The trivets / drying racks are necessary to prevent damage to the current lab tables in my classroom. The standing mixers are ideal for preparation of multiple lab topics.
