A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Engage, engage... engaged! What an amazing year thus far! In our classroom, we discuss reaching higher and goal setting often; our small groups are named after universities. At times, you may hear a student or two debating which college is their top pick and why. My students come from families of varying backgrounds including differing socioeconomic status.
My students need to be prepared for the 21st century that utilizes technology, collaboration, creativity, and ingenuity.
I would like to incorporate STEM into our 5th-grade classroom to ensure that I give ALL my students ALL possible opportunities to be excited about learning and be successful! My amazing 5th grade students are so very inquisitive, eager to learn, and truly work hard every day! I differentiate instruction to meet and maximize the learning needs of all 30 students.
My Project
The materials and accessories that I am requesting for my students will enhance our Tech Fridays as well as allow for alternative creative assessment of learning. We currently have 2 Dash robots; however, with 30 students, the students do not get as much time on the technology as one would wish. Incorporating 2 Sphero Sprk+ will add two more robots to our rotation, allowing more students to be actively involved and hands-on trial and error vs. Blockly on a device.
My students thrive as doers, creators, and innovative thinkers!
The accessories for the Dash Robots will allow students to use the Dash Wonder in new ways. The launchers will be used with challenge cards, incorporating measurement, force, and angles as well as the engineering design process. The Dash building block connectors will allow students to be creative as they build and add to the robots.
I would like to expose our 5th-grade classroom to the engineering design process and four Cs of effective group work. I attempt to give ALL my students ALL possible opportunities to be excited about learning and be successful! They are leaders who are ready to reach higher. My goal is to prepare our students for success in high school, college, and beyond.
Thank you so much for your support! We are so very excited!
