My Project

Once a month, my students and I use our social emotional learning time to explore SEL conversation topics while we learn to cook a simple meal. Through our conversations I learned that many of my students are responsible for cooking for themselves or siblings before or after school. Their knowledge of what to make and how to make it is limited. We have since decided to dedicate one Friday a month to talking, sharing a meal together, and learning some cooking strategies. Simple fruit parfaits, eggs in a variety of ways, layered oatmeal dishes, and paninis are just a few examples of the things that we have explored with our students. Help to give us a fridge so we can open up more options!
