My Students

My students come from low income homes in Harlem. The majority of my students are eligible for free lunch. Some of their parents lost their income during their pandemic.

This year I have the pleasure of working with second grade.

This is the year that they really become strong readers. We will be doing a lot of phonics, fluency and comprehension work. One half of my class is below grade level and this is the year for them to make a lot of growth.

We want to start the year off with quality supplies. I want every child to have a fully stocked desk when we return to school.

My Project

Being prepared for the day helps my students feel good about themselves. No child will feel left out or unprepared because they don't have basic school supplies like a journal, marker or pencil.

Each child will have the same supplies as their classmates and access to quality school supplies.

When it's time for us to read, write or do math, everyone will be prepared.

Instead of wasting time looking for supplies, we can smoothly transition into each subject area and everyone will be prepared. My students can focus on working instead of hunting around for supplies.
