Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I believe that my students should learn to keep themselves organized. That is why in this project, I have included folders for all subjects as well as a pencil case to keep all of their writing tools in one place. We also learn outside of the classroom, so the clipboards will help students take the learning outdoors. First grade is a vital year where students learn to read and write. For our writing, I would love to provide my students with all the tools needed to use their creativity when writing.

The pencils, crayons, colored pencils, and erasers will be helpful in letting their creativity flow.

For our small group reading, I would like to provide them with tools to allow for multisensory learning. We not only read during this time but we practice writing as well. The dry erase markers, erasers, clear pouches, and whiteboards will allow students to participate in guided spelling/writing within the small groups. Last but certainly not least, I have included some manipulatives for math. In first grade, students use the base-ten number system to help them make sense of numbers. The clock manipulatives will help them learn to tell time.

The other math materials and manipulatives in this project will provide concrete models for the students to get a better understanding of the base-ten system.
