Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is Title I and is located in a predominately Hispanic area. My students are faced with many obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Despite all the obstacles they face, their parents are very supportive and willing to help make a change.

My students love school!

They are eager to get their hands on their next learning adventure. They are willing and able to try just about anything related to their learning. They love to discuss things that they learn about and the books that they read with us during morning meeting. More importantly, my students want to be loved and to belong. My goal is to show them that they matter in a world this big and that they are destined for greatness.

My Project

Aside from teaching literacy skills, hygiene will be a pleasure to teach. Flu season and stomach viruses are in full swing. If my project is funded, I will make sure our class is germ free by using these products to maintain a cleanly classroom on a daily basis. I'm hoping that this will decrease the spread of germs and also decrease the amount of absences. Our classrooms are only thoroughly cleaned at the end of the school year, the rest of the year is a pretty much a germapalooza. I often clean the desks with cleaning supplies that were donated by parents at the start of the year. Having Lysol wipes, and a swiffer mop would make the job a lot easier. With the wipes and gloves the students can help clean their desks. My goal is that if we cleaned daily, germs that would be sitting on the desk for days in and days out will be removed. All of the supplies will be used to help students practice clean habits.
