it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment is essential for students’ academic success and well-being, and having an air purifier in the classroom has never been more critical, especially in light of the recent California fires that devastated our Los Angeles community.
These fires, which came alarmingly close to our area, have left lingering air quality concerns due to smoke, ash, and other pollutants that have permeated the environment.
Although schools have reopened, the effects of the fires remain, and we must ensure the air quality inside our classrooms is safe and healthy for our students.
Additionally, classrooms often contain airborne pollutants such as dust, allergens, mold spores, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from cleaning products and materials, but the fires have compounded these issues by introducing fine particulate matter and toxins into the air. Prolonged exposure to these pollutants can trigger or worsen respiratory issues such as asthma and allergies, which are particularly common in children. An air purifier equipped with advanced filtration can help remove these harmful particles, ensuring cleaner air and reducing health risks for both students and teachers.
An air purifier can also help prevent the spread of airborne illnesses by capturing bacteria and viruses, which is crucial as we continue to prioritize health and safety in the classroom.
Given our proximity to the fires and the heightened risk of air pollution in our community, investing in air purifiers is a proactive step to protect our students and staff. By purifying the air, we can help mitigate the effects of the fires and create a safe space where students can focus on learning without worrying about the lingering environmental impacts. An air purifier is more than a tool for improving air quality—it’s a commitment to the health, safety, and success of every student in our care.
