My Students

The students at our school are constantly working toward being stewards of our watershed, empowered decision-makers, historians, and conscientious community members. We are located in south-central Montana, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We are an active, artsy, outdoorsy, and environmentally aware community. Being engaged with our "backyard" keeps us connected to our community.

Our daily goal is to explore learning through personal experience.

My Project

This TOON Graphic collection features 52 books comprised of 14 hardcovers and 36 paperbacks plus 2 Spanish titles. These titles feature diverse characters that span high-interest subjects including Latin American Folktales, Hawaiian Folktales, Fairy Tales, Historical Non-Fiction, Transportation, Greek Mythology, Adventure, and Fantasy.

Comics and visual narratives bring the text to life in a way that captures young readers’ imaginations and makes them want to read on—and read more.

Students love choosing what they want to read. Our section of graphic titles is always picked over and has a waiting list for the favorites. Students will reread these titles because they enjoy the format. Making meaning out of reading with the aid of visuals is an excellent way to become a lifelong reader, one who knows how to read for pleasure and for information—a reader who loves to read.
