This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine completing a piece of art and not being able to frame it? I have extremely talented students, in an inner city district where the art budget decreases every year. The art they create is amazing, and being able to add frames to the work would make it just that much more special.

I teach high school students grade 9 through 12.

We are an art based school with a budget that is practically non-existing. My students are some of the most talented young adults I have ever met. They produce artwork that I have seen college students creating. The majority of my students have a thriving passion for art and are hoping to continue their education in an art college and pursuing a career in the arts. Unfortunately, we are victims of the economic crisis and the art department is hurting. I am the only art teacher and have done my best the last 3 years to turn my department into an invigorating and challenging program. My students have met my demands and now I would LOVE to reward them with being able to frame some of their artwork.

My Project

I am requesting black mat-board. The mat-board will be used to add a professional quality to my students' artwork and improve their portfolios for college interviews. I have a mat-cutter, but no boards to make the frames. My students will be able to learn how to frame their own artwork and display them in a clean and professional manner.

This is important to me because I feel that with all the hard work my kids put into their work, they should be rewarded with framed work.

It would help to give them a sense of completion, maturity and professionalism.
