Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are part of a Spanish Dual Language cohort meaning some students speak more Spanish than English. Others speak more English than Spanish. Yet regardless of the differences in language Math is the universal language they all speak. The fraction unit manipulatives will be vital for my students this coming year since the curriculum focuses a great deal on fractions. The pockets ordered will serve to create whiteboards students use on a daily basis to represent their mathematical thinking. The dry erase markers and dry erase erasers will aid students in student representations. Lastly, the classroom rug will serve as a meeting place for small guided math groups to meet and work collaboratively.

From the concrete to the abstract students will be able to use manipulatives and resources provided to represent their mathematical thinking.
