Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.

Many students are particpating in my distance learning that I have set up and I want to provide them with quality lessons from my home and when I get back into the classroom.

These materials will strengthen our mathematical thinking, reasoning, and give more confidence in the area of mathematics.

My Project

These fraction blocks will help build student understanding of fractions and help them represent their thinking when diving into mathematical situations that involve fractions. These are much easier to manipulate and use than the traditional fraction tiles and they even snap together for easy clean up and transition. I want to make these available to my students as they explore fractions. They will help represent fractions visually and build conceptual understanding of fraction models. These manipulatives will change the way our class model and interact with fractions. I will be using these models online as well to support my teaching of fractions through asynchronous lessons.
