Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Fraction bars are a powerful tool in helping 5th-grade students develop a strong conceptual understanding of fractions. At this stage in their mathematical development, students are transitioning from working with whole numbers to dealing with parts of a whole.

Fraction bars provide a visual and tangible way to represent fractions, making abstract concepts more concrete.

By using fraction bars, students can physically see how fractions are divided into equal parts, compare the sizes of different fractions, and understand concepts like equivalence, addition, subtraction, and simplification.

Providing this resource will empower our students to gain confidence and mastery over fractions, setting them up for success in future math challenges.
