Help me give my students the individual supplies to practice hands learning as they are introduced to letters for the first time! These supplies are developmentally appropriate and fun all at the same time!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is made up of 15 full-day Pre-K students, with and without disabilities. It is a diverse group of children of different races and ethnicities. All of my students come from low-income families, each from the city of Springfield. Preschool is a child's first school experience into the world of education and my goal is to lay the foundation for a love for learning. At this time, we are transitioning back into the classroom after a short Summer break. I want to ensure my students can work and learn in the classroom safely with as many individual materials as possible. Personalized and individualized materials will ensure the safety of the learning environment, as well as teach students how to become responsible for their own materials.
We're on the road to reading & writing!
Studies show that young children learn best while working with hands on materials. Allowing each student to have their own set of manipulatives allows them enough time and exposure to master their skills. Children can and will do amazing things once given the opportunity to do so!
My Project
The Handwriting Without Tears program is a developmentally appropriate writing program that teaches children about the letter formations in easy and fun hands-on learning experiences. Providing each student their own individual set of materials will allow a more effective and individualized approach to the program, especially during small group learning time.
There's no crying in writing!
These Pre-K approved learning materials will make learning letters an exciting experience for each student. They'll learn to manipulate lines and curves of different sizes to build each alphabet letter. Eventually, they learn to put the pencil to paper in their own individual workbook to demonstrate their skills.
