Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

For many of my students, this is their first experience at school. My students are ready and eager to write. The first thing they have learned is to write their name. I want to expose them to many opportunities for future success by providing more manipulatives and strategies to teach writing. My first project was funded at 100%; however, we are still in need of a few materials in order to appropriately teach the curriculum this academic school year. Please support a good cause!

My Project

Learning handwriting requires the ability to distinguish certain shapes and to translate those distinct mental images into consistent physical motions in one's hand. It requires the ability to hold a writing instrument in a comfortable manner. It requires the writer to consistently follow certain well-defined, pre-prescribed motions. I plan to use the curriculum Handwriting Without Tears during small group instruction.

The project goal is to help my students familiarize themselves with the use of Handwriting Without Tears materials and to encourage more meaningful writing.

My students will be given the opportunity to independently practice more writing at their own pace and time during choice time activities.
