Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 12th graders who are general education students with Individual Education Plans (IEP). The students I work with have learning disabilities such as Autism, ADD/ADHD, emotional disabilities, and specific learning disabilities. They come from diverse social and economic backgrounds in the city of Long Beach, CA.

All of my students are working hard to graduate high school with a diploma and transition into college and adulthood.

Many of my students are developing the self-regulation skills they will need to be successful as they undoubtedly face challenges during this period of change. My hope is to help them foster their creativity and organization skills through art projects, in a safe and nonjudgmental environment, so that they are better prepared to cope with future stress and adversity.
