My Project

My students love completing and dreaming up community service projects, all because of the empowering power of Donors Choose. My students choose to do this project year after year. Once they get to know me, they become interested in foster care charities. They are quickly aware that my son was adopted from foster care and my mother's life was changed by reporting abuse to a teacher and then finding my mema through foster care.

Christmas time in foster care can be a lonely prospect with very little love and even fewer presents and positive memories, my students want these stockings to finish off our 100 foster kids stockings project!

My students cannot wait to finish off our stockpile, we make stockings for everyone from toddlers to teenagers. So we ordered and already funded the 'insides', for some stockings including face masks, lip gloss, and teenage fictional books. The others include stuffed animals, toys, and little ones stocking stuffers like Legos, toy cars, and slime. Last year we completed this project but didn't love the quality of the stockings, please help my students complete their shopping list. We want a hundred foster kiddos to awake Christmas morning to a high-quality stocking stuffed with awesome and age-appropriate treats. Thank you for helping to empower my students to become community service heroes early and future philanthropists!

We will be meeting before school along with an amazing parent volunteer to assemble these. The kids do all the work, watching them take on a leadership role is truly inspiring!
