My Project

Students are often asking for the same topics over and over again. While I love showing them where to find them on the shelf and helping them discover similar books around them, they often just want what they want. These forward-facing browser bins will allow me to place all video game books in one spot, all holiday books in another spot, and specific animals in yet another bin. Having multiple bins will enable me to have permanent bins and a handful of rotating bins. I often have students asking for Christmas books year round, while St. Patrick's Day books only get seasonal attention. My large Muslim population is constantly asking for books with Muslim characters and themes. Being able to have a quick bin for those students to browse in one spot will ease the checkout process, especially when we are crunched for time.

Additionally, I have a large number of special needs students who have very specific tastes in topic.

These bins will serve those students by having all of their favorite topics within easy reach.

I currently have a small Visually Impaired collection, which includes books with large font type, braille lettering, and high contrasting colors. They are currently in two mismatched bins and I would love to make them more appealing in matching bins!
