Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My seventh and eighth-grade students are an exuberant bunch of teens who love to socialize and have fun. My students are diversity personified from painfully shy to audacious, from studious to silly, from spoiled to neglected, from being treasured to experiencing trauma.

The pandemic has hit them hard: their natural exuberance has taken a hit because they are isolated from their friends and teachers.

Many of them are developing anxieties that may potentially take years to overcome. Getting back to normal can't come soon enough—we need to mitigate the learning loss and social isolation they are currently experiencing. Unfortunately, many of them have lost close family members to COVID and are struggling with grief as well. Although I can't solve these problems, I can do my very best to provide my students with learning opportunities that will excite them and allow them to focus on better days ahead.

My Project

Next year, I will be embarking on a new phase of my career, teaching a STEAM class to high school students, and continuing to teach technology to middle schoolers. Because I want to give my students the very best lessons, I would like to have this year-long subscription to Study.com. The video lessons and modules on Study.com can help support my students in all of their classes, not just science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Having this subscription would help me fill in the learning gaps that the pandemic has created for all our students. I have found that students are often too shy to ask for help when they don't understand a concept.

If each of my students can log in to Study.com, then they can find the concepts that are difficult for them and use the information to bridge the gaps in their understanding.

I think this will be a powerful tool to put in the hands of my students. We would be very appreciative of your help in getting these resources to them so they can continue their education journey with the very best chances of success!
