My project is focused on helping my students be comfortable and inspired in my classroom to grow their love of reading! My classroom library needs a better selection of high-interest books based on student requests. Each day, I begin class by reading aloud a chapter book. Through the years, students have wanted their own copies to read along with me. This project will allow students to have more opportunities to read the books they love with me. The beautiful rug I'm wishing for will match my modern coastal classroom theme and provide a calm and comfy space to stretch out on the floor and enjoy new books. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift, card as well as other items on my wish list, will allow me to buy additional curriculum materials that will make learning reading skills fun and engaging for all students.
My goal for this project is to create a classroom environment that has the items necessary for a comfortable, interesting, and fun space to inspire and encourage my students to be successful readers, enjoy reading, and become life-long learners.
My students are special because they are the next generation in my community who will make a difference in the world. I attended the same school district as a student from K-12, and my goal was to return to my community and teach the next generations to come! We are a small, rural, Title I school district approximately 1 hour from Pittsburgh with students who have big hearts.
