This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are funny, creative and most of all honest. This has made my classroom one of the most warm and welcoming classrooms in the building. They are very hardworking. Being remote for a year and a half many of my students have lost their drive when it comes to reading. As they browse the classroom library, they don't see anything that sparks their interest.

Even so, their determination to gain back some control in their life has been inspiring.

They show up to class everyday with smiles behind those masks and a eagerness to learn.

My Project

After being remote for a year and a half many of my students have lost their love for learning. Our libraries, after being dusted off from our remote year lack the luster needed to keep my students focus and reading.

These books are titles that students have personally requested to read this year.

I am confident that these books will not only engage my students during their reading workshop time but they are books they can take home to read and enjoy. The books will help my students engage in conversation, compare novels and most importantly bring back the love of reading in the classroom.
