My Students

One of my 3 classes includes special needs students. Disabilities range from dyslexia to language impairment. Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also has over 70% free or reduced lunches.

Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.

They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. Some of them struggle to read and with this project, I hope to turn that around.

My Project

As a reading teacher, I really try to get my students involved in a good book each quarter -together as a class. We laugh with the characters and even cry with them. I love to share stories with great themes, a great story they can relate to.

This story, "The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise," is heartwarming, has realistic life experiences, and resilience reigns supreme.

Readers who have experienced loss will see themselves, while those that have not will learn through Coyote's eyes. It really is a must-read and has just been published this YEAR!
