My Students

I teach preschool children in the Head Start program whose ages range from 3-5 years old. The Head Start program services low-income families. The students come from different cultural backgrounds as well. I provide a nurturing and caring environment for my students to learn and grow but always want them to have more.

My students are full of questions and love to find out more about their world through reading and playing.

They love working together in their learning centers. Their eagerness and curiosity to learn always amazes me.

My Project

My students love to read in our library. The center allows them to find, share and read books with their friends. The children can visit this center throughout the day to read a book of their choice. Our current bookshelf needs to be replaced due to cracked edges and chipped paint.

We would love to get a new bookshelf as well as new books.

A variety of books is needed so that my students can explore different concepts and themes. More multicultural books that promote diversity would also be appreciated since my classroom consists of students from various backgrounds. Literacy is very important especially in the preschool years. Although my students are not "reading" yet, a new library center with new books will promote their love of reading.
