My students need a classroom library that fulfills their many interests. Also they need books for their book clubs.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Davis's classroom raised $597
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are 6th grade ASD students in an 8-1-1 classroom. Some are mainstreamed for math and one student receives both math and ELA in an ICT classroom.
The students are the group that every teacher wished they had.
They are eager to learn, accept the challenge of a rigorous academic environment and has never missed a day of school. They struggle with understanding social cues and social interaction.
One student attends language school in the evening and on the weekends. She speaks 3 languages. Another student loves to draw; he spends every free moment drawing and hopes to become an animator One student desires a career as an engineer. All of them love to read! However, I do not have a variety of books to satisfy their diverse interests and we need books for the next unit of ELA.
My Project
My students love to read and want to do book clubs, however we do not have the books to begin and sustain the clubs. These books will be the start of our classroom library and the books we use for book clubs. Of course, students will be able to read these books in class and may "borrow" them to read at home at their leisure.
These books will help them become life time learners, travel the world as they turn a page and feed their curiosity about life, other cultures, and teach them that our humanity transcends place, journey, and dreams.
More than half of students from low‑income households
