My Students
My students WANT to read! Over the years I have bought books myself and tried to match the student to the book. When a match is made, a heart is captured by a book.
My kids are 8th graders with no library to check out books. They are smart, interesting, kind, remarkable kids who want to discover all the possibilities around them. They are inquisitive, unique, and are a joy to teach.
My boys especially struggle to find books that they are interested in because they associate reading with the state test. I want to show each child that there is more to reading.
My Project
These books requested in this project are ones my students have asked to be able to read.
I love to see the smile on a student's face when he or she finds a book they are interested in, the hand over their mouth at a pivotal part in the story, and the rush to find the second book! That makes my job so meaningful. I hope to create lifelong readers! I wish for them to go home and read to younger siblings.
Strong readers make strong students in all subjects. The difference these books with make is instead of eye rolling at reading they will be glued to their story.
