Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a Title 1 school in an urban area. The school's performance has been below average with a high mobility rate. Students are performing low in all academic areas. They lack the comprehension skills necessary to analyze text. Reading is an essential skill to all academic areas such as Science, History, Language Arts, and even Math.

My students are eager to learn but with a high mobility rate many times books are left behind.

They are unable to pay fines in the libraries in order to get books. By having an array of books in the classroom no one will have an excuse to not read.

My Project

The students in my classroom all struggle with reading. This struggle has given the students an aversion to reading for pleasure. My students need to have high interest books to help them regain a love for reading. Increasing students reading skills will help them build up their confidence and stamina.

This project will help improve students reading levels and help them excel in all of their classes.

Helping my students to engage in meaningful , high interest stories will give them a better chance to enhance their future. Increased reading gains provide them with more opportunities in their education and future. Reading gains will increase the possibility of them graduating
