My Students

My students may be little, but their dreams are big! My kindergarten students are 5 and 6 year olds from inner-city Philadelphia. They are energetic, creative, and inquisitive. They love listening to stories and creating stories of their own. They are very eager to learn! Their enthusiasm for learning is inspiring. They never cease to amaze me. I am honored to be the teacher of such a wonderful group of children.

My Project

My students would benefit greatly from having CD Player's for an individualized listening center in the classroom. It would grant them the opportunity to spend quality time listening to books on cd’s while tracking the print in the books. Students could be matched to books that suit their specific reading needs. One student may need to listen to a book of rhymes in order to focus on the sounds in the printed words, while another student may need to hear the words on the page modeled in fluent, uninterrupted reading.

Having an individualized listening center would enable me to differentiate my instruction and provide my students with books that will enhance their learning experience.

A listening center would bring books alive in my classroom. I would love to be able to do that for my students.
