My Students

Our school community is in a low economic area where students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students have Autism Spectrum Disorder and are part of New York City's District 75, which provides specialized instruction and support for students with significant challenges. My students range from grades K-5 and are part of the D75 inclusion program.

Although they may face several difficulties and challenges both academically and socially, they continue to flourish in a mainstream classroom.

My students succeed best when they are provided with a structured environment, with visual, auditory and tactile opportunities.

My Project

These materials will be perfect for making centers for my students! The binders, folders, and laminating paper will help me to make differentiated learning centers for my students to use across various subjects. The timer will help with the management of centers by providing a great visual and auditory signal for students when it is time to rotate or complete their center work.

Centers are a great way to engage students in learning at their own pace and level.

Differentiating lessons and specially adapting materials is key to help students with autism thrive in making progress on their individual goals.
