Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a third-grade ENL classroom. Working at a public school in New York City, I'm blessed to experience diversity daily. My students come from an array of different backgrounds from all around the world and have so many different needs including English language learners and students from low-income backgrounds. Students arrive to school each day determined to persevere through the rigorous curriculum, encouraging each other along the way, and becoming closer to a family each day! My school is a Title I school, comprised of about 550 children.

These books will help allow English-language learners to engage with our ELA content in a fun and exciting way!

As students study the ocean, outer space, and immigration in 3rd grade, they will have to opportunity to continue exploring these topics on different levels. Students will have the chance to learn new facts that will help them engage during content instruction, and make learning come to life in a fun way.
