My Students

I have been teaching at PS 155 for 21 years. It is a Title 1 school with 100 percent free lunch for our students who all fall below the poverty line. These 21 years have been the best of my life. My students have taught me MUCH more than I could have ever taught them in a lifetime! They’ve taught me to never give up no matter how difficult your life may be and to love unconditionally —because we ALL deserve that!

All of my stars are in a self-contained special education classroom for students who are differently-abled and who speak Spanish as their first language.

This year in particular they have taught me that EVERY CHILD CAN LEARN AND SUCCEED! They have re-instilled my passion and love for teaching students who may have given up on themselves in the past. We have taught each other that WE WILL NEVER give up on each other. We are now family forever and I’ve guaranteed they know where to find me should they need help through middle and high school.

In order to keep my kids reading over the summer, I’m asking for $20 so they can choose their own books!

My Project

My students are differently-abled and are also English-Language Learners. They are so very intelligent and after 21 years of teaching in East Harlem at PS 155, they have taught me to fall in Love with teaching again!

Their love of learning—no matter how difficult the task may be—has inspired me to never give up and to find that childhood joy in all that I do!

I wish I could pay for each and every one of their college tuitions—because believe me these students are going places—but for now I at least want to give them a summer library that is there’s forever! Many of my boys have never had their own room not to mention their own library in their room. At least this will be a start on their long journey of escaping through literature!
