This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I public school located in inner-city Los Angeles. Many of my students come from low-income families and do not have regular access to books, supplies, or even regular homework support. They depend on teachers and school staff for support.
They are eager and enthusiastic students who come to school with hope and a positive attitude every day.
I strive to provide them with an inviting learning environment.
My Project
This year especially has been tough on children. Many students have struggled emotionally and mentally but being able to express their feelings through art is a satisfying and fun activity for many of them.
My students love to draw and share their drawings whether it is during in classroom instruction or via zoom.
By providing my students with pastels and crayons we can all draw, color and discuss our feelings through our drawings and paintings. The crayons will be extra special because of the diverse shades of colors that are provided. At the same time, it will allow my students to express themselves through the love of art.
