Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At the start of 2020, we were hard at work with Disney Musicals In Schools to bring our very first production of FROZEN Kids to the Community. In March 2020, our production was abruptly shut down due to COVID. Now, three years later, we are given the opportunity to bring the production back to life.

Our working-class community does not have easy access to theatre and the arts.

Most of my students have never seen a live show. We have been fortunate enough to be selected for the Disney Musical in Schools (DMIS) program. This program gives my students the opportunity to not only SEE a live show but to be hands-on in all aspects of a musical theatre production. We hope to grow our musical theatre program each year.

My students are talented, hardworking, and very supportive of each other. They can not wait to bring these characters to life with prince and princess costumes, and cobbler aprons to be able to showcase their talents. In addition to singing and acting, some of my students will be taught the behind-the-scenes of putting together a musical theatre production. We even established a technical crew that will learn to operate spotlights and sound. We had to do all of this again because we were unable to carry out our vision in 2020 due to the lockdown. The magic of Disney has struck again three years later and I see it in the smiles of my students.
