This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach curious, intelligent, amazing children, in a Title I school. Teaching children early on how to save and invest their money will be a life skill that will keep on 'giving'! Let me be honest with these amazingly generous donors. I was planning on asking for headphones for the laptops that are used in my Science class, for when the children conduct research, etc. Then, I read that there was a 'Donors Choose Match' for projects based on financial literacy. I immediately thought of how everything in life is somehow connected, especially in Science & Mathematics! I will have a Financial Literacy Club at my school to begin introducing this much-needed knowledge! I 'Googled" the term financial literacy. I was first pleasantly surprised to see such an array of books and games for young children about money, savings, and even investing?! Then, I was a little saddened to realize that the school where I teach has never seen such books. What better way to fund a much-needed Financial Literacy program (when a project like this is getting double funding, too!)!

I would like to buy my students an assortment of books about financial education, which will educate them about making money, wisely spending money, saving their money, and even investing their money for their futures!!
