My Students

Have you ever found yourself fading away struggling to stay focused during a long work day? Now add to that familiar scenario a half hour lunch at 10:45am but the day continues until 3pm. Productivity and achievement expectations are high even if you're feeling low.

Children feel the same way during the school day struggling to learn and remain focused with dwindling energy.

The basics of reading and mathematics must be learned and mastered in 1st, 2nd, and by 3rd grade. Those are the grades that I teach. Let me introduce my class! My class is a self-contained special education class for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students. That means that every student in our class has a disability and/or special need that requires more attention that can be given in a our small class compared to a general education, regular class. We are 12 students in total with an age range of 6 through 10. Our needs include learning disabilities (such as dyslexia), autism, speech and language impairment, and emotional disorders to name just a few. We have a wider range than other classes but we make it work!

My Project

I am requesting donors to provide food for my students. The day is long, we have a very early lunch that feels like breakfast, and by early afternoon the students start to crash. Learning without nourishment and sustenance makes their learning through their disabilities that much harder. Your donation and assistance would provide a healthy snack for the children to keep their learning potential at its greatest level. The children in my class are all from lower economic homes. This up coming year, 100% of the children in class come from families receiving government assistance. Two of the students have only recently been moved out of a homeless shelter. Another three of my students are under the supervision of child services. These families need your help in providing their children with a healthy snack.

Any amount that you can afford will help feed these children.

Food is a simple and basic necessity that can wondrously alter the direction of a child's learning. They need your help to make the learning last until the end of the day and will continue to value your donation until the end of the year.
