This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have 22 wonderful students. They love coming to school, learning and working hard. Many of my students come from loving and hard-working families. They love to read books and listen to books being read to them. Many of them love to act out the stories we read in class. They also love to write stories. Most of my students enjoy reading their stories to their partners. My students love illustrating their stories. I love going to work every day because I love seeing them grow as students.
My Project
Many of the students in my school come from low-income homes. With the pandemic going on, many of my students’ families are facing economical hardships trying to decide whether to pay rent or buy food. Parents are struggling to provide food for their children. Many of my students are coming to school hungry. Our families are facing food shortages at this time. Therefore, I am requesting food items such as pasta, apple sauce, and nutri grain bars. It is important to make sure all children have food. It is hard to learn when you are hungry.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
