Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students at our elementary school are diverse, inquisitive, and actively trying to learn during a pandemic. The majority of our students are attending school remotely, while students who need extra support are attending in person. We are a Title I Charter School in South Phoenix. This area has been especially impacted by COVID-19, and while our students are strong and resilient, many come from low-income homes that need some extra support. We want to provide our students with the best education possible, while teaching them remotely. We celebrate each win a student has and we love the families that are a part of our school community!

My Project

These materials will help students stay fed and warm during the upcoming winter season. Students cannot access learning and academics if they do not have their basic needs met. By providing food and jackets, our students will be able to have some of their needs met in order to then become engaged in learning. The flexible seating materials (wobbly chairs) will also help to support students with ADHD and sensory needs who need movement during learning time. These materials will make a difference in the lives of our students here in South Phoenix.
