My Project

Many of my students come from low-income families. They often come to school hungry and rely on the free breakfast and lunch they receive at school. We eat lunch daily around 10:35 a.m. Most of my students are hungry before 2:00 p.m. We have implemented a snack time prior to our dismissal for the day, but only a handful of my students are able to bring something from home for snack time.

My Kindergarteners will be able to choose a healthy snack to eat at school.

The snack will keep them alert and energized for the afternoon. They can eat the snack at school or take it home to eat at a later time. Food for thought...keeping snacks on hand in my classroom will meet my students' basic needs and help them reach their full learning potential.
