This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I know the challenges my students face both in and out of the classroom every day. As a teacher in an elementary school with the highest number of bilingual learners in our school district, I also know that opportunity helps my students communicate beyond words.

Opportunity empowers my students to strive for excellence on a daily basis.

My students are hardworking agents of change who are always willing to be challenged. They seek knowledge both in and out of the classroom and strive for excellence every day. They are role models for one another and despite every obstacle and challenge, they persist and exceed my highest expectations. Our students are the leaders our school community needs to enact positive change.

My Project

Many of our students have been affected in various ways by the recent pandemic Covid-19. While our school has worked collaboratively with our district stakeholders and community partners to help support our students during these unprecedented times, there is still more to be done.

In this project, I am asking for food, snacks and basic hygiene items for my students and their families.

These resources will help ensure that students have the essentials they need in order to focus on their distant learning assignments. Moreover, these resources will help support families most impacted by the pandemic.
