We have some awesome students at our school. They are so kind & care about others. The majority of our students live in low-income apartments; many of those kids live with multiple families in one apartment. Things have been difficult for the families of my students. It's hard to know who needs what, but if you pay close attention to each student you will notice things that they are in need of.
I look at my students' feet & see their toes poking out of their tennis shoes; I see their feet hanging over their sandals.
I see the holes in their clothing. I notice the girl wearing her parent's clothing because she doesn't have anything that fits her this year. I actually see many of my students wearing older siblings' clothes or parents because nothing is clean or fits & they don't have the means to get more. I have so many students who will ask me if I have any food they can eat towards the end of the school day because they are already hungry & don't know if they will get to eat dinner or a snack when they get home.
You see, I'm the counselor.
My Project
Over 95% of my students receive free lunches. They eat breakfast and lunch at school for free. We try to send food home with the students on the weekends so they have something to eat.
Many of my students are lacking food at home.
The snacks and microwavable food items will allow my students some extra food during summer break.
If you donate to this project, you will be giving my students food to eat so they don't have to go without. Thank you for your help, it's truly appreciated!
