My Students

I teach in a low income/high poverty school with over 80% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Many of our students are homeless and highly mobile. I teach students in special education, to which they not only have hardships in their home lives, but struggle with academics, behavior, and/or both. Despite the many challenges they face, they are unbelievable students and I consider them part of my family. With that being said, they deserve every ounce of my time and effort to help support them to become the successful human beings they are capable of being.

My Project

My students come to school on a daily basis, hungry. They have many outside factors that impact them and their ability to be successful, and hunger is one of them. These snacks will help my students stay focused and decrease behavior that is triggered by being hungry.

We all know what it's like when we are hungry, please put yourself in their shoes, as well.

I often call it, HANGRY. When students are hungry, they are often angry and cannot focus in the classroom. A simple snack goes a long way. Consider donating to help my students maintain focus, which leads them to be successful in school, and, in turn, life.
