Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students enjoying learning about scientific topics, especially when they can see how it relates to their lives. In addition, they love becoming the expert on a particular topic and having their classmates look to them for information.

My students are incredible hard-working twelve and thirteen-year-olds who are always looking to be challenged academically.

Through no fault of their own, they attend a public school that lacks sufficient supplies for them to fully immerse themselves in their studies.

My Project

All my students will read Omnivores Dilemma during our study on genetics and food. They will also be asked to read another book on food; sustainability, social justice, ethics, or politics. The second book will supplement their understanding to help them make an informed decision on what food and how it should be produced and what they should purchase.

The school already has a supply of Omnivore's Dilemma which will provide the students with one perspective on food.

The books purchased through Donor's Choose will provide students with the ability to research food further and become more informed consumers of food.
