Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These skirts and blouses will allow our school to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month in a performance of traditional folklorico dance. Students will be able to use these costumes for years to come as they learn traditional dances from Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and other Hispanic cultures.
The community at our school is represented by many of these cultures and it is important to show the students that their cultures are important, and to learn about what we all have in common through the joy of dance.
Dancing with traditional skirts is a technique that cannot be learned without the skirts themselves. Feeling the swish of a skirt helps the dancers feel more connected to the dance.
