My Students

I am an AIS teacher located in New York City. I teach eager kindergarten, first, second, and third-grade children who are struggling readers and writers. My students are devoted to learning but need a different approach toward their education. They need small group instruction that uses many types of manipulatives.

When my children are successful, the look of wonder in their eyes is a sight to behold.

It is truly what makes being a teacher the best job in the world.

My Project

I am always striving to make my classroom and students effectively organized After reflecting on this school year I realized I had a serious lack of folders and labels in my classroom. My students were always scrabbling to locate any type of folder to put their work into or take to another class. This created quite a bit of chaos.

Imagine a classroom of students all very proud of their color coded folders all neatly labeled.

I want my children to take pride and preserve their work. In the past, work was always discovered in a crumpled mess in the rear of their desks. We definitely need to change that rather depressing habit.

We also could use oversized paper clips to attach work to our interactive bulletin board. The scratch bookmarks just sound like fun.
