My Students

My students are amazing, marvelous, and challenging on many levels. Our new reality of virtual learning comes with its own set of advantages and challenges and my sholars are rising to the challenge.

It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life, and I am enjoying the ride.

Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I observe them via the lens of our Zoom sessions, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.

My Project

"Equality doesn't mean equity". My daughter reminds me every time I tried to split the snacks equally among her and her sisters. She is right.

My goal for our scholars is not equality.

However, it is equity. I want to provide what they specifically need to succeed.

Many of our scholars are in need of the face to face learning and I want to create an environment that is safe for all of us. The fogging machine will ensure that I fog in between classes and wipes surfaces that need wiping. The air purifier will take care of lingering germs that are still in the air.

With your help, our classroom will once again become a learning environment that is safe for all participants.
