My Project

I work with the most amazing group of students. Since the pandemic my students have been struggling to manage strong emotions. Coping with feelings of anger, frustration, and self doubt, my students are showing these strong emotions in ways that are damaging. Our work together is focusing on how we can feel these strong emotions and not allow them to take over.

There is power in naming an emotion.

Using things calming strips, art supplies, and the book, Bridge To Terabithia, I am able to show the students different techniques for how to calm down and use the resources on their own. If I can continue to work with my students on how they can name the emotion, feel the emotion and calm themselves down from the emotion I know we can move from the damaging behaviors to healthy coping skills.
