Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a group of diverse, fourth and fifth grade students! Our classroom is a 12:1:1 Special education classroom. All of my students are special education students, as well as students to whom English is a new language. Additionally, I have two paraprofessionals (aides) in my classroom.

A typical day in our classroom consists mostly of small group and differentiated work.

This accesses each student's entry point and allows their education to be personalized to their needs. I want my students to be motivated to excel and love learning.

My Project

These classroom basics will assist my students in furthering their learning. My students need to be seated close to the SMARTBoard when I am teaching. These seat spots will help my students be more comfortable when sitting on the floor. Ultimately helping the focus on the task at hand.

Focus is a major challenge for my students.

The privacy partitions will make it possible for my students to focus on various classroom tasks and assessments. The tabletop easel will also help me teach my students while they are participating in small group instruction. This type of instruction is imperative for special education students because it meets them on their level with minimal distractions.
