This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
I am a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school. My students face challenges every day in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they are so excited about school. School is a safe place for them, a place where no one can hurt them, physically or emotionally. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch because for many students, school is the only place where they will be able to eat.
Although the odds may be against them, they have the perseverance to succeed in school.
They are some of the most resilient students and are ready to learn every day. My focus is to give them a rich learning environment with positive experiences and hope for their future. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best
My Project
Studies have shown that fluorescent lights can cause headaches, migranes, stress, and anxiety for students and teachers. Our classroom (and school) is full of these types of lights. I am requesting these light covers to help with this harsh lighting in our classroom.
There are several days that my students request for me to teach with the lights off to rid the room of the fluorescent light.
These covers will allow us to focus on our work without straining our eyes in the dark, or in the harsh lighting. It will help create a warm, inviting atmosphere and keep students focused on their work!
