This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you enter my classroom, you will see students of various backgrounds, economic statuses, and learning needs. But more importantly, you will see students that are kind, thoughtful, encouraging, and who love learning. My students may speak 27 different languages and have had different struggles in their lives, but they never give up.

We believe in having a growth mindset!

My students amaze me everyday at their ability to persevere and understand that it is okay to fail, as long as you get back up.

My Project

Fluency is a key part in being able to read proficiently. Readers' theater scripts will help my students build their fluency by allowing them to partner up and read aloud. Readers should be able to read accurately, smoothly and with expression. One of the best ways to do that is through readers' theater. These scripts will give my students the ability to do that. They will also be able to learn from the texts they are reading.

In my class "Teamwork makes the dream work." Doing this with partners will be fun, engaging, and will help the students hold each other accountable for their growth.

The fluency cards are also important for students to time their reading and for me to see how they have improved throughout the year. I can already see my students getting excited about getting better each time. Being a fluent reader will help them to love reading even more, and seeing student happy to read makes my heart happy!
