Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very motivated to learn and are so excited to come to school each day. Our school is a Title 1 school in the South Bronx. Every student in my school qualifies for free and reduced lunch students, as they are coming from a low socio-economic background. As a class, they are inquisitive, insightful and inspiring. In an attempt to make learning more exciting and we are looking for new ways to help build our math fluency and independence.

My Project

The resources I have chosen will help our class to improve our math fluency skills. As first graders, they are building foundational skills they will need for the rest of their lives.

Having the ability to use manipulatives and different materials help students to get hands-on practice, and build their fluency.

The Visualize It! game would be an extremely productive tool.

Morning meeting is a crucial time to build personal relationships, as well as see real world applications of math. An opportunity to use the calendar and how we use math every day is a chance to use their math skills even more!
