My students are very special and desire a quality education in a safe, clean, and inspirational learning environment. They are challenged by circumstances beyond their control, however, they thrive with effective teaching and relative resources. Some are below grade level, while others are progressing satisfactorily and exhibit special intellectual gifts. Each of my students is unique, and each brings something meaningful and interesting to the classroom.
Multiple learning techniques and strategies benefit the diverse student population in my classroom.
Students depend on the school for the majority of their learning resources. My students benefit from constant reassurance and interactions with dedicated educational professionals.
Curious and eager to learn new things is the best way to describe my class. My students are particularly interested in science and technology. Some are struggling readers, while others are above level readers who all have a deep desire to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds and homes. Most students are from single-parent households or are being raised by relatives other than their birth parents.
My school is a Title I, public school located in Michigan.
This online tool is an incredible resource to help my students learn about important language arts concepts (punctuation, nouns, author's purpose), math (addition, place value), science (states of matter, force and motion, ecosystems), social studies (holidays, famous people, maps, regions in the United States), and social issues (how to deal with frustration, how to join a group). This resource is amazing and very relevant.
Flocabulary offers educational content through hip-hop music.
The students are engaged and are able to recall important information through the songs. The really neat thing about this software is that it provides an assessment with each video.
